The Icelandic Academic Word List (v. 1.0) [LINO-2]

The Icelandic Academic Word List (Listi yfir íslenskan námsorðaforða, LÍNO-2) contains words from the Icelandic language corpus MÍNO. MÍNO can be downloaded from http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12537/299. The words in MÍNO that occur 100 times or more in the corpus are listed according to their frequency. The MÍNO frequency list can be downloaded from http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12537/306. Words were chosen for LÍNO-2 from the most frequent 5.000 words on the MÍNO frequency list. The chosen words are beyond the most frequent Icelandic words and are used across various disciplines. These words are Tier 2 words that play a key role when discussing various and complex issues and have an important role in education. LÍNO-2 contains 2,294 words (lemmas). LÍNO-2 is intended to be an important tool for teachers, authors of teaching material and assessments, as well as for Icelandic learners to strengthen their literacy skills in the Icelandic language.
