Research interests

Sahar Ghaderi Kvaran is an architect, researcher, and Associate Professor at the Iceland University of the Arts, where she also serves as Program Director of the Master of Architecture. With more than fifteen years of experience in Iceland, France, and Iran, her work spans architecture, urban design, cultural heritage, and artificial intelligence, and sustainability.

She holds a PhD in Architecture, Archaeology, and Computer Science from Université Denis Diderot , Paris VII and ENSA Paris Val de Seine (2014). Her research, developed at EVCAU and ANHIMA laboratories, examines digital reconstruction, archaeological interpretation, and the role of computational tools in building an infrastructure of knowledge. She has contributed internationally to publications and conferences on photogrammetry, 3D modeling, digital heritage, and sustainability.

At IUA, Sahar teaches design studios, research-based design, architectural history, and emerging technology courses. She leads efforts to integrate artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and multimodal workflows into architectural pedagogy, working on an international studio, Iceland- Laboratory of a future productive city,  and supervises MArch thesis projects.

Parallel to the University, she is co-founder of SP(R)INT STUDIO, an international practice working across architecture, urbanism, and spatial analysis. Their projects have received several first prizes in Iceland, including work on the Stöng í Þjórsárdal interpretation center, Reykjavík Government Quarter, and Lækjartorg public space.
