Project Details
Description
Me and my wife, Tui Hirv singer and musicologist, have been collecting, arranging, recording and performing folk songs from the Nordics, British Islands and Estonia. The arrangements are largely done by Tui while I am more in charge of recordings and production. We can compare the production to something akin to how a pop/indie album ins produced. We record it in our home studio and then have the occasional friends/colleagues add to the project. Sóley Stefánsdóttir plays accordion in one song and Kaktus Einarsson plays trumpet. Our friend from Estonia, Sander Saarmets, an electronic composer, does electronics on one song. We have more people in mind but still waiting for the right opportunity to record them .
The recordings will be released on Sono Luminus, American record label that I have had a fruitful collaboration with since 2019.
