analogues/dialogues

Research output: Visual, Audio & Perfomative ExpositionMusic

Abstract

Composition for bass-clarinet and bassoon. Premiere 4th January 2022, BKA Theater, Unerhörte musik, Berlin. Ingólfur Vilhjálmsson (clarinet) and James Aylward (bassoon).
The material is placed within these similar yet different instrumental forces where mirroring, simultaneous reciprocity, and repetitions linger and prevail within the duality and multiplicities of analogue dialogues. The endless strive is framed, a strive for superimposed shadows (analogues) as a form of linked and locked motion/movement that never seem to break away from the urgent yet opaque dialogues (that resemble more a person speaking to herself than a conversation). The urgency doesn’t help for any kind of resolution but keeps us thinking between the formulations, in the silences, but there might leak through another thought that is nevertheless incapable of unifying or integrating these two forces, as they are indeed manifold.
