Abstract
The article discusses the use of artificial intelligence in learning from the perspective of dialogism. Arguments are presented that traditional ideas about learning can affect how successfully artificial intelligence is implemented in schools. In the article, I focus on how dialogue with artificial intelligence can look in the spirit of the dialogic theory that Rupert Wegerif (2025) describes in the book Rethinking Educational Theory. With this approach, an attempt is made to think about ways to use artificial intelligence to support critical thinking, attending to others’ perspectives, and asking good questions. Such an approach calls for a rethinking about teaching methods where the emphasis is shifted from transmission to the teacher’s role in supporting and fostering dialogue.
