Abstract
Based on knowledge available from experiments and literature, a theory is presented concerning the dissolution of calcite which is sinking in a lake, The basic equation for the dissolution is based on a diffusion model for the dissolution. A model is presented also for evaluating different calcite powders offered commercially for liming operations.
