title = "Measuring Temperature and CO2Emissions from Soil Respiration Using a RealTime System",
abstract = "With increased emphasis on reducing CO2 emissions there comes a demand for reliable and cost-effective ways to measure CO2. In Iceland more than half of greenhouse gases emitted by human activities come from soil respiration. Unfortunately the equipment used to measure these emissions is very expensive. In this paper, we propose a robust and cost effective way to measure the CO2 emitted from soil respiration, along with temperature measurements using a microcontroller and sensors. The microcontroller, CC3200 LaunchPad, will be programmed with a real time operating system and will transmit the data in real time using the MQTT broker. The work described here was apart of a course on embedded systems where the emphasis was on the use of disciplined approach to analyse, design and program the problem at hand.",
