MERCURY CONCENTRATIONS IN THE NORTH ATLANTIC IN RELATION TO CADMIUM, ALUMINIUM AND OCEANOGRAPHIC PARAMETERS

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contributionpeer-review

Abstract

The water masses investigated are derived from both arctic and temperature regions. The mean reactive mercury concentration in 73 samples is 8. 5 plus or minus 3. 5 pmol 1** minus **1 and the mean total mercury concentration in 47 samples is 11 plus or minus 5. 0 pmol 1** minus **1. The mercury distribution is dissimilar to both that of cadmium and aluminum and it has not a simple correlation with dissolved silicate.
