Abstract

Abstract — Streptococcus mutans levels in saliva were determined in 9‐yr‐old children from five towns in Iceland. In four towns the mean counts were > 105/ml. Serotype c was predominant but types e and d/g were also found. The proportion of children harbouring serotype d/g alone or in combination with other sercqxpes was higher than that reported in most other studies.
