Abstract
The Newtonian shear viscosity of concentrated stabilized dispersions was compared with that of pure hard sphere fluid which was calculated using molecular dynamics computer simulation. The shear viscosity and self-diffusion coefficient of the hard sphere fluid was computed over an extensive packing fraction range. It was found that the hard-sphere fluids and colloidal liquids behaved in a similar way with packing fraction, when scaled by their respective limiting viscosities at infinite dilution. The inverse diffusion coefficient ratio curve was significantly lower than the viscosity ratio at a given packing fraction.
