Abstract

The book chapter discusses Tillich´s famous term "ultimate concern" from the context of climate change in the Arctic. Many ecotheologians have criticized the concept for being too metaphsical and general to meet the challenges of the ecological crisis, race or gender. The intention is to "invite" Tillich north of the Polar Circle, that is reading the Tillichian corpus through the political context of diakonia and indigeneity in the Arctic region to find out if ultimate concern has any good climate to bring to the Artcic.
